Biodiesel
Biodiesel
burns in any diesel engine without the need for any modifications,
assuming the engine has no natural rubber fuel lines or gaskets (generally
all engines built after 1986 have Viton or other synthetic rubbers which
easily accommodate the solvent property of biodiesel).
Challenges: biodiesel has (3) challenges relative to petroleum diesel (generally known as #2 diesel fuel). They are: 1) it 'gels up' faster in cold weather, 2) it usually costs more than #2 diesel, and 3) it has strong solvent properties which clean up the 'gunk' in a vehicles fuel tank, fuel lines, and any fuel storage tank it's being pumped from.
Solutions: Krystal Clean biodiesel is 1) winterized with a proprietary blend of additives to lower its cold filter plug point (CFPP) to 0 degrees F at a B20 blend, 2) less expensive than #2 diesel (usually 5-15 cents less than petroleum-derived diesel), and 3) it's a good thing that biodiesel cleans out your fuel system & tanks (after it does this once, and you change your fuel filter(s), your fuel system will run much cleaner).
Benefits: there are many advantages of biodiesel, including a) it has 66% greater lubricity than petroleum #2 diesel (engines run smoother with less wear & tear on parts, saving time & money with reduced engine maintenance), b) lower emissions by up to 70%: no sulfur, much less soot & particulates, and lower CO2, SOX, NOX (in most cases), aromatics, and other harmful chemicals, c) reduces dependence on foreign oil, d) is often produced locally, and e) in the case of KC Biofuels, is made from Waste Vegetable Oil (aka WVO), animal fats, and a small percentage of virgin vegetable oils (generally soybean oil) meaning the roundtrip carbon footprint of our biodiesel is lower than virgin soybean oil biodiesel and far lower than petroleum diesel.
We can set one of our yellow grease (used cooking oil) containers (50, 100, 200, & 300 gallon sizes) at your location and we'll pick it up at No Charge. For good quality oil with consistent quantity under a long-term agreement, we may be willing to pay for the oil and/or pay a commission to the person who obtains the signed agreement on our behalf (contact us).
